Colorado Divorce Trial Representation A court trial is the most expensive and least productive method of finalizing a divorce. However, sometimes it cannot be avoided. This is particularly true if money and other assets are being hidden or there is an unbalance of bargaining power between the parties. If one of the parties is hiding assets or failing to provide the required disclosures, then the assistance of a district court judge may be necessary. Another reason that parties go to trial is if there is a significant imbalance in power or the bargaining positions of the parties. Under these circumstances, the negotiation of a settlement is very difficult and sometimes not possible. Make sure that the attorney which you hire is capable of excellent legal analysis, properly preparing good exhibits, and properly presenting your case. The judge is not going to present your case for you or otherwise help you. See additional information on how to select an attorney. Attorney Court Trial Fees Otherwise, our normal trial fees are $200 per hour for attorney time, $85 per hour for paralegal time, and $45 per hour for general clerk time. On many cases, the effective legal fee rate is about $110 per hour. This assumes about 1/3 of the time is spent on each of the 3 categories of fees. Unlike most other law firms, we do not charge for routine faxes or routine photocopies. Bulk copies where more than 100 copies are prepared for a single task or charged at the low rate of .05 per copy. A retainer amount will be quoted at the time of an initial consultation. |
